The Town of Winfield has adopted a new Home Rental Registration and Permitting Program under Ordinance 385, passed by the Town Council on January 27, 2026. The ordinance establishes Chapter 160 of the Town Code and requires rental property owners to obtain a Home Rental Certificate of Authorization.
The Certificate of Authorization is valid for as long as the applicant owns the property, provided the property remains compliant. Certificates will be reviewed upon transfer of ownership or in cases involving public health or criminal violations. A separate certificate is required for each rental property.
Applications for the Home Rental Certificate of Authorization are available at the Town of Winfield offices and online at www.winfield.in.gov under the CLERK-TREASURER/UTILITIES Department page.
