Winter Road Maintenance

Keeping the main roadways clear is the priority of the town. Please be patient regarding your own street. Timing on when subdivision roads are cleared often depends on the severity of the storm and personnel available. Once the major thoroughfares throughout town are cleared, snowplow drivers move on to the subdivisions and are often only able to make one pass to make sure all roads in town are addressed. Cul de-sacs are difficult for plows to maneuver into to clear snow, but plow drivers do their best to clear the area as much as possible in the time they have. Residents can assist snowplow drivers by avoiding parking vehicles in the street when there are over two inches of snow. Parking a vehicle on the street whenever there is two inches or more of snow is prohibited by town ordinance. Violations may result in a fine or the vehicle being towed away.

Snowplow drivers use salt sparingly, limiting use to main roads, intersections, and curved roads. All subdivision roads cannot be salted from end to end. Salt must be reserved for the most heavily traveled roads and intersections. Always exercise caution and reduce speeds when traveling on any roadway in the winter months.

If your property is accidentally damaged by our snowplows, please see the information on the Snowplow Damage page.
